Tutor Code of Conduct

The BrightBrains Tutor Code of Conduct serves as a framework for ethical and professional behavior, outlining the responsibilities and expected conduct of tutors providing their tutoring services on the BrightBrains Platform. As primary instructors, it is essential to ensure the well-being and safety of students, and to mitigate the risks associated with misconduct. Therefore, we set the following guidelines.

As a tutor, you hold a position of trust, authority, and influence. You must engage beyond academic instruction and you fully serve as a mentor or role model to your students. Therefore, it is important that you exercise a high degree of care, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions with students.

By registering on the BrightBrains Platform, you affirm your commitment to uphold the principles and guidelines outlined in this Code of Conduct. Your adherence is not only important for your own success, but for the success of the entire learning community.

Professionalism: Conduct yourselves as tutors and private registered and we expect tutors to maintain a professional and friendly manner in all interactions, whether with students, parents, guardians, fellow tutors, or BrightBrains staff.

• Non-Discrimination: Practice the act being accepting of, and treatment or discrimination based on gender, race, religion, and preference, or any other protected characteristic.
• Punctuality: Arrive on time for each tutoring session, ideally being prepared at least five minutes prior to the start of each session.
• Preparation and Proficiency: Be adequately knowledgeable and competent to teach the topic and to use appropriate tools and resources and demonstrate teaching. Create a conducive learning environment with students and use appropriate teaching methods. Avoid using student contact information outside the teaching features offered by our platform such as sharing use of WhatsApp etc. These safeguard are essential with the exchange and the online scheduling tool.
• Attendance and Reliability: Ensure that the number of learning environment with students and ensuring the room is neat and distraction-free.
• Clear Communication: Keep an open channel of communication with students. Upon them for clarification and support.
• Responsiveness and Accessibility: Answer student's via posting to Tutor's announcement, call and maintain positive relationships.
• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records, unless required by law.
• Scheduling: Keep your availability in the calendar up to date.
• Secure Facilities: Prioritize and report potential safety or safeguarding concerns to BrightBrains tutoring using. Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to the safety officer.
• Personal Information: All tutors are responsible for maintaining current and accurate records of their personal information as disclosed to BrightBrains. This includes, but is not limited to, name, address, bank accounts, and licenses. We trust you to ensure compliance with the requirement to report to BrightBrains forthwith any changes to the information disclosed to BrightBrains for review.
• Reverse Sharing: Utilize the student-specific WhatsApp groups exclusively for their intended functions, such as sharing educational materials, booking additional tutors, and sharing other resources that contribute to an enriching learning experience.

BrightBrains strictly forbids any form of misconduct against students and their families. All the unacceptable behavior includes but is not limited to the following:

• Boundary: Do not cross tutoring outside of scheduled sessions, whether online or in-person. Do not contact your students outside the designated communication channels like the GoTeam, GoClass, or GoChat, particularly if such contact is unrelated to studies.
• Physical contact: Do not engage in any physical contact with students.
• Relationships: Do not cultivate inappropriate relationships with students, such as allowing favoritism or exchanging gifts.
• Romantic Relationships: Never engage in romantic or sexual relationships with current students.
• Privacy: Do not share personal contact details outside of what is mandated by BrightBrains policies. Do not share confidential information about students, including academic performance or personal matters, without explicit consent from parents/guardians.
• Abuse: Do not use abusive language, make derogatory comments, or engage in behavior that causes emotional harm to students.
• Respect: You may not belittle or patronize students, or make sarcastic, dismissive, or sexually suggestive comments.
• Collaboration: Tutors are strictly prohibited from offering or providing tutoring services to students outside of the BrightBrains platform. If those students were originally procured via our platform, strict consequences will follow.

Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the BrightBrains platform. Severe violations may be reported to the police and/or competent local authorities. All tutors have legal obligations to report suspected abuse or neglect.

By registering on the BrightBrains platform, you commit to uphold this Code of Conduct, ensuring that each student receives an education that is beneficial, safe, and respectful.
